Due to the effects of the medication, patients must have a friend or family member bring them to the dental office and take them home.
During Conscious Sedation, the patient’s vital signs are monitored to make sure the sedation does not interfere with normal functions. Although patients are not completely unconscious, most patients sleep through their dental appointment. Occasionally we will also use a bit of nitrous oxide with the sedation to enhance the effect. Because of the type of medication we use, few patients have any memory of their treatment.
